Dutch Volkswagen Harley-Davidson XA

von Dutch XAVWvon Dutch XAVW 1966 im Original Zustandvon Dutch XAVW 1966 im Original Zustand
This great custombike from Ken Howard, aka Von Dutch, was built 1966. Von Dutch used an old Harley-Davidson frame of a wartime XA and a 6V VW engine. This bike was for years missing and has now a place in the "Antique Archeology" shop in Nashville TN. The most astonishing part is the perfect look like a official motorcycle from Volkswagen, clean and polished in the past.

Oil and water exposition

Lowbrow art, motorcycle evangelists and the prayer of endless summer in one location. The customizing and painting, the way how you live and what do you expect of your life is knocking not on heaven's but the door of arts & design. It seems for me that it enters a next level and seperates only to build nice bikes from making art.

Traditionally oil and water do not mix. The surf, hot rod and motorcycle cultures that grew out of Southern California from the 50's-70s however, were all connected by the idea of personal freedom and expression-not conforming to the standards of the societies they existed in. For this show we are bringing together dozens of artists and craftsmen from these respective backgrounds and beyond-from legends to rookies. Each artists will be provided with a particular canvas: a blank board from City Fog Surfboards, helmets from Biltwell, gas tanks from Lowbrow Customs among other items.

To kick off the event a run was organized for the day that ended at the gallery on Fairfax. On hand there was a live performance by ex-TSOL singer Joe Woods, as well as live installation.

To coincide with the show, Us Versus Them creatated a pop up shop that will occupy the back room at Known Gallery. In addition to UVT Fall product and accessories, exclusive artist prints and tees based around some of the pieces included in the show will be for sale.

Modern Old Bike Building

Photo via se-5

SE-5 from Japan shot this wonderful, awesome, light and clean motorcycle. From Darkside Apache Bodyline, traditional fork, rigid frame with thin tubes, the small tyres, the exhaust and the whole line... a mixture of cooper, brass and brown colors. I am fascinated by the details like the covers, the holder with the spring of the seat and and the fuel tank under the frame tube...

Bigtwin Bikeshow Rosmalen

First day at the Bigtwin Bikeshow at the Autotron of Rosmalen. Supporting my friends of dock66 at their stand, we had nice visitors and conversations soon at the first day. Enrico from Wannabe Choppers with his nice wife Maria came to a long conversation and it was a real pleasure for me to walk with him over the expo and to talk about his ideas for style, handcraft and details. Thanks for his input and creative hints.

Reunion of some custom-build mopeds in the lower cubic capacity class - The 49er - haha! 2 Honda and one Yamaha, my Honda CB50 and a Yamaha DT50 and Honda XL125, both owned by Peter Su Markus. Many thanks to our "Welding" Master Franz from OSM factory for his great help and Frank Bick for this nice shot.

Fashion shooting with Little Bobber

Sounds complex but it is quite easy: Two weeks ago I visited a photo session at my friends of dock66. I had no cam with me but an idea. So I asked Frank Bick to shot this photo of model Birgitt with my CB50 Bobber just at the same shooting when Carsten from Incredible Style leather fashion did his photo job.

The Moped strikes back

When I became older (and older and older) my interest at small Mopeds had a second wind. Don't misunderstand me - I like the big ones, the Harleys of course, Guzzis and Triumphs, the old BMWs and japanese Two-Wheels, but a small Moped only driven by an engine with pistons a little bit bigger than an egg-holder... haha! You have only one chance to go forward, polish everything in your motor and increase your engine speed per minutes. 8 or 10Td? Ha! 12Td and more is the answer. So I was very excited to see the custom Honda build by Kiddo Motors from sunny Barcelona. Thanks Sergio for sharing this nice Honda MBX photos.

Custom Honda MBX 74cc by Kiddo

The Honda MBX had a Two-Stroke engine, was build from 1982 to 1990 and was very comfortable at this time. With 12 V, water-cooled, 6 gears and lots of aftermarket parts.

Kiddo Motors is located at Barcelona, Spain, and partner of Zero Engineering and other famous brands. Click here for their website...

So the Moped strikes back! And better than ever. It's cool. Everyone can drive a Moped and if you live in a city, hey, put your bike into the basement. You do not need a garage "expensive like an appartement"!

Be prepare for the 49er :-)

Choppertown Nation Meeting 2011

This time I drove only with the small Honda to Kaldenkirchen and the weather seemed to be more rainy, so I left my cam at home. Safe, but not clever! BUT... here are some photos of this nice meeting with awesome bikes and great peoples.

Hot Blanket from Mexico

Today I received a hot stuff package from California - friend Tom "The Gardener" send me this nice mexican blanket straight from the Hot Rod county. This colorful mexican blanket "Molina" was originally made in Mexico, no China Scrap, must washed separatly and is from Acrylic. The size is big enough to cover your bed, use as a seat-cover or perfect for a picknik with your lovely Girl. Love it - and many greets to So-Cal Beach!

Received my Mexican blanket

This blanket "Molina" is ca. 2,60 x 1,60 m and available in different main-colors but same design. Be aware this is handmade, so every mexican blanket delivery could be different from this photos.
